Folk Customs of the Chinese New Year⑦
One of the traditional dishes eaten during the Spring Festival is a type of New Year cake or bun. In south China, this festive cake is usually made of sticky rice, while those in north China favor the colorful patterns of the steamed "flower bun". Both cakes and buns represent best wishes and a bumper harvest for the coming year. (Hihenan/Zhang Rui)
