  The idiom is from Zhuangzi. Hui Shi, from Shangqiu (now Shangqiu, Henan) in the Song Dynasty during the Warring States Period, is a famous statesman and philosopher with extensive knowledge. Zhuang Zi, an influential philosopher at that time, said Hui Shi read so many bamboo books that five carriages could not carry them. Chinese people use it to describe someone being of great erudition and scholarship.
