According to a 2022 list announced by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Xinyang Maojian national GI (geographical indication) protection demonstration area (GI area) has become the only such demonstration area in Henan province included in the list. In recent years, Xinyang has continued to promote tea culture, strengthen and optimize the tea industry, and further the integrated development of "tea + culture + tourism".
